Are we sure we know what we’re doing?
It’s a major project with a lot of possible complications,
yet here we are just jumping into it
like kids jumping into a pile of leaves.
These things take so much time and effort.
Excitement can turn into resentment so quickly.
It’s not like getting a puppy– Mom and Dad won’t take care of it when we get bored with it.
(OK, OK, “If” we get bored with it. And I’m certain we will at times.)
This is more than just entertainment, anyway.
It’s a major gamble of time and money.
There’s no guarantees on the result.
It may not be what we hoped for.
In all likelihood it won’t win any prizes.
Are we willing to settle for average? Or below average?
(Yes, I know that this is already above average by virtue of being ours.)
No, I’m not having second thoughts.
I’m not being a jerk, don’t look at me like that.
We’re in this together, you and me.
And it too, don’t forget.
I just wondered if you were thinking the same things.
Wait, of course you are– you thought them long ago, didn’t you.
(All this time together and I still underestimate you.)
You’re right.
And I should have known that already,
because you’re always right.
It really is the right time and place.
We have fertile soil, we have potent seeds,
we both want to make it happen.
My reservations are gone.
Let’s do it now– and let’s do it together.
Let’s make something wonderful.
