Actually, it kind of seems like stealth is never NOT an option… What would happen if she wanted someone to know? If she actually jumped out of the bushes and yelled I TAEK UR BABBY~! as she was doing it? Would the mother notice then, or would her memory show a crazy pregnant girl accosting her fruitlessly instead? Or would it just not work?
Charlie’s story is several flavors of cool. Let’s hope it has a happy ending, and not just “CHARLIEEE! You can never come back… you can never come baaaack…”

So the question is, if she tried to push the fact she was doing it, what would happen? Good question.
If someone showed you a picture of you riding a dinosaur, would you assume you did in fact ride a dinosaur?
However, I’ll say two things about the masking effect of the hat. I don’t want to get to into it as this is a question that will come up in an upcoming story and I don’t want to spoil things.
1)The hat’s ‘cloak’ only tampers with the mind. Case in point, Charlie took video, it didn’t change.
2)The hat doesn’t work on everyone. Case in point, Charlie (obviously), the guy who made it (see origin).
So what if she were jump and declare her intent and all that…the answer to that will come up, I swear

I wonder if the girl baby snatcher will learn a valuable lesson from the hat…that it isn’t just fun and games. Also the magic requires the mother to be alive and well..what happens when they die unexpectantly and leave the babies stranded with Charlie!!!! Or Charlie decides to save babies from dying with their mothers….and becomes an odd ball surrogate mother to a lot of babies…who are not her own. I mean the story has some depth that could be really explored. The hat would probably work to her favor…..or over time she learns to control it and or….choose when to use it carefully. Maybe she gains a boyfriend with her baby snatching? Or she gets more than she bargains for with more babies than she can handle for whatever reason. Who knows you have some interesting morale conundrums and things to explore…maybe the hat allows Charlie to give the baby to a mother who always wanted one….who could never get pregnant….naturally. I mean this story is lighthearted craziness but then it can have different shades of a morale story….even though how unlikely it may be it would do nicely.

You could even go into better detail, what if Mrs. Robbinson went into labor when Charlie not aware that this was happened swiped her baby. What if she got taken to the hospital waiting for the last second to give it back and she got a job working as nurse in the maternity ward.
