Out of the hauntingly beautiful murk of Swedish winter comes a comic strip that delights me greatly, Anders Loves Maria. It’s the story of two Stockholm kids about my age who are having a baby that is not yet my age. It has a wonderfully distinctive and frequently hand-painted art style, pulls no punches about the truths of both relationships and pregnancy, and every once in a while it makes a little Scandiavian Pride bell go off in my head. Go read it! I’m G’Tron, and I approved this message.

If you showed it to me, it’s only my own fault that I don’t remember, I guess. I discovered it through a link at ShortPacked.
What the hell is going on is… the dude Anders is the child of a reclusive celebrity, so the paparazzi are always stalking him to dig up some dirt. It’s not hard to do, because he’s always getting drunk and making mistakes. Impregnating Maria seems to be his smartest move yet, despite the fact that her brother hates him and is constantly kicking his cunt into next week.

I remember looking through this one a while back on an adventure through the world of European webcomics… There’s an awful lot of sex in it, which was a bit of a blindside considering the whimsical, cartoony style. Still, a nice read. Think I’ll go catch up on it right now…

Read through it all in one night, nerd that I am. Pretty good, even with some of the Swedish that I couldn’t read and jokes that took me a bit longer to understand at times. Highly recommend it, fan or not of the particular.
